This is a simple way to teach that numbers are made up of other numbers. Each pipe cleaner ring has a number of beads strung on it from 1 to 10. This way you can show how 4, for instance, is made up of 2 + 2, or 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 or 3 + 1, depending on how you place the beads on the ring.

Materials: pipe cleaners and beads.
